Has my G/Card just burnt out?

Hi All

Was playing Half Life 2 when all of a sudden it started to stutter badly and I got some real bad graphics corruption and then my computer crashed.

Now when I load up my computer again, I get a lot of corruption/artifacts even in the BIOS menu and before Windows loads.

I can get into safe mode with slight graphics corruption but it's still noticable. Then when I uninstall my g/card I can get into Windows in normal mode but when I reinstall the Nvidia drivers the monitor doesn't detect a display half way through and nothing happens, and I have to go back into safe mode and start over again.

Does this sound like the g/card is borked to you guys?

Also not sure if this bit is allowed but in the support section on OcUK Leadtek isn't listed under the Direct Manufacture Support table, so does that mean OcUK will deal with it directly?

And this is my 2nd g/card from OcUK as I had to RMA my 1st one prob a bit less than a year ago, is this going to cause any hassle considering this is a replacement card?

The g/card is a Leadtek 6600GT with stock cooling. I guess this is the bad point about all the good weather lately.

Definately sounds like it's on its death-bed to me.

Perfect excuse to upgrade though.

I had a Leadtek 6600GT which I replaced with an x1800Xt after it started doing this:

Sounds like you are having the same problem. New card I think

If your getting display corruption in the bios the card is borked.

It did that with multiple sets of drivers, different PCs and after a format so i don't think it was a driver problem. Usually it was doing it for the whole screen too. Anyway, I needed an excuse to get a new card

Yeah my first card done the exact same. With the exact same looking corruption as well. Plus it was only limited to certain areas. But OcUk sent me out a new card as a fault was found and now I have this now borked card.

Is this a common problem with 6600GT's or is it just me?

And thanks everybody for your help, i'm off to find my order number now.

Well I don't know about anyone else - but I am not playing any games in this weather. X1900 normally sits at 47c and at the moment its at 58c lol. In games it hits about 76c but I think it would melt in this heat.

Yeah, ive had 2 household fans going it in the room where i have my PC and 360, they are directed right on both systems,,,seems to be doing the job as both have been running fine all day it is sweltering though
