We've grown to adapt our lifestyles to not warrent great amount of effort towards the seemingly easier aspects of life. Keeping warm, well fed, social and healthy. I would say that warrents evolution, not devolution. True, some parts of our society have lacked the capacity to take full advantage of this. But that will have happened across the span of humanity, regardless of our era.

Evolution doesn't have a dead end, it is just a descriptive word used to observe selection in a population.

'Survival of the fittest' is a throwaway descriptive phrase that, ultimately, means nothing. Evolution is certainly not only 'survival of the fittest', by any stretch. Why do women find tall men attractive? Why do men generally find larger breasts desirable on females? Why is blonde hair becoming increasingly common? All are a result of sexual selection that is ongoing in our society today. Evolution does not just regard viability, but the ability to find a mate too :)

Althrough i agree that in general men have become taller and boobs have become bigger. small men and small boobed women still breed, so that equation balances out. Oh and the blondes are a dying breed. Most women who look blonde comes from a bottle.

Most scenitsts think that in a few hundred years most of the races in the world would have inter breed and we would look like one race. And we would look more Brazillian than anything else. Doesn't sound to bad to be honest

By specialising we have far surpassed what we could achieve by multitasking. Although it does make me wonder how we are going to technologically evolve in the future. Surely somethings must be getting so complex and specialised it's going to take a lifetime just to learn what we already know, before a genius can then expand on that theory/design.

It's nothing to do with 'balancing out' - all I'm saying is that there is selection at work and that some phenotypes are more desirable than others. The children off two models are going to probably be far more desirable than the children of a tiny father and a mother with small / no breasts.

That's selection, right there - by having a mate that has desirable sexual attributes (for example, large breasts), my children (with large breasts) will be more likely to pass on my genes on to the next generation. Likewise, my attraction to large breasts will be passed on to my male offspring, creating a 2-way amplification of the desired phenotype.

You highlight a very interesting behavioural trend regarding hair dying - the advantage has been, to some extents, lost due to our ability to mimic this phenotype.

then again maybe the op has a point

Reading a book? I've read many books thanks! The real evidence is that if we fail to eat and drink we become ill and die! How then can anyone conclude that diet isn't the over-riding factor in human health?

You've all disappeared up your own backsides! Vaccines for this, vaccines for that,a drug for this a drug for that! Can't you see the manipulative and profit seeking ways of the drug companies/health authorities behind it all? All they care about is £££££$$$$$$

You can't breed a healthy population when they are led to believe diet is unimportant and when illness occurs a quick jab or pill will put things to rights, maybe in the short term! but long term effects are devestating....diabetes,cancer,heart disease and arthiritis are generally the result.

We don't need vaccines we don't need drugs! we need foods that positively influence our bodies at a cellular level, the construction of strong cell membranes is vital and only possible with the ingestion of natural unprocessed saturated fats, which due to all the propaganda and misinformation surrounding them have been criminally labelled as a health hazard. The materials of our cell membranes are constructed of at least 50% saturated fats! The cell membranes of our lungs are constructed of 100% saturated fats, yet we are advised not to eat saturated fat! But it's o.k to inject potentially toxic substances into our bodies and shove pills down our throats, and to what ends? People continue to fall to the same diseases! it's just a hideous and vicous circle that has to be broken for the sake of our quality of life.
