I haven't been following the release of Win 7, but I could have sworn I saw Home Premium full retail for about 60 quid a while back, and now it's over £100?

Was I imagining that or has it actually gone up?

Ummm....Windows 7 Home Premium Retail is still £80 here so I don't know what you've been dreaming about.

The cheap prices before was back during the early pre-orders and release date. The price has been slowly increasing since then and eventually come the beginning of next year, it will hike up even more, so better grab the O/S now as cheap as possible.

The extra few quid for the retail version is a far better buy than the OEM version, which is questionable license-wise anyway.

Yeah I pre-ordered HP Retail for £49.99 from John Lewis of all places (to use up some gift vouchers we had). I actually think that's very good value considering it's not an overly crippled version.

What with getting Office 2007 for £8.95 via HUP and the rise of decent freeware apps like 7zip, Filezilla and suchlike, it's now possible to have a fully functioning software setup for well under £100.

Bah, just had a look at the HUP thing and need a work email, which I don't have and even if I had my work wouldn't be participating in it.. would love to get the Office for £8.95 though! You don't happen to have 2 products number and wanting to sell one do you HangTime? ;):p

To be honest £100 is peanuts for an Operating System, especially one as good as Windows 7. The one thing you guaranteed to use the moment you switch on your PC each day is Windows. Without an OS your i5/i7/AM3 rig might as well be an elaborate electic heater for all the use it is.

£100 for Home Premium. After a year that works out at about 30p a day. Not bad value methinks.

I bought a win7 retail ultimate key dirt cheap coz its just the number, but couldnt be bothered to reinstall over vista as its all running perfectly.

Need to phone MS to ship me a replacement dvd coz last time they wouldnt accept my debit cards. Might put it on the bay as well.

You can pickup W7 for £30 if your a student or even if u have a .ac.uk email address.

Thats harsh.
I was gonna buy in a week or so :( .May just get the OEM now

No!!!!!!!!!
Do you know what OEM is?
It's good for the first machine you install it on and that's it.
Retail you can move from machine to machine as often as you like.
Well worth the extra £20.

it went up, it was here at £45 im sure of it, i had to wait a week for some cash and came back on it was £72 then so i held back, wish i just got it straight away at that price.
