Have I been fraud-ed?

Well, it happens that I am not that guy in the wheel chair.

I had a call from O2's fraud department today to say that it was a mess-up at their end. They had a London customer with the same name as me with a similar Gmail address. They typo'd as my email addy as it was only a few characters out. So that explains how my bank cards weren't debited and that was how I got the email erroneously. False alarm.

Thanks for the responses guys. It was just to update you all.

Firstly the word you were looking for was 'defrauded'.

Secondly, just ring up O2 and tell them you never ordered one and that someone is spoofing your ID, should be fine. At my last address (physical not e-mail) I got a couple of letters from various phone companies congratulating me on signing up for a new phone. Someone had used my details but I rang up the companies as soon as I got them to report the fraud and I never got charged a penny.

In my case (and maybe in yours) they never used my card or bank details to get the phone, just my residential address so I never any actual money..

hm.. someone from another city started an 18 month iphone contract with Orange. I only realised when i got a letter stating that i had taken out a new contract. I promptly called Orange and they sorted it out for me.
