Hey, got a spec based on OC'uks forum recommendations and it arrived today, installing everything and its going well till i get to the power supply

I got an OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply
with

- 1 x PCI-E 6+2 pin

also a

XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 Zalman Cooled 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

On the back of the manual for the xfx it says a "Good" power supply fits 2 6 pin PCI-E cables into the graphics card

However as you can see i only have 1 6 pin + a 2pin (The 6 pin fits fine, the 2 pin doesnt)

So have i boned myself and ordered a power supply which wont work? If so i can take the hit, but id rather know before i switch it on.

Should power it fine with 40A@12v, obviously depends on the rest of the system, but normally its ok. Just means you'll need to use a molex to 6 pin adapter.

here is the system

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz
Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 AMD 770 (Socket AM3/AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply
Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX Dual Channel
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Coolermaster Elite 335 Case - Black (No PSU)
Samsung SH-S223B/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 Zalman Cooled 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Woudl i dare run games on it? Or do i risk something bad happening

games? Like left 4 dead?

Id rather air on the side of caution if there is a potential issue, id rather be safe in the knowledge that something wont blow up

does that refer to my post? if so then yes, I played lots of games with it and never had any problems, even overclocked the card to near 1GHz core as well :p

with 1 6 pin?

no, with 2x6pin where one comes from a molex to pci-e adapter cos my PSU only has one natively :)

so were all agreed using 1 6 pin when the manual recommends 2 wont blow up any portion of my pc

So long as we are clear on that ill start her up

If it's not good enough you'll just have post/crash problems, the PSU would have to be faulty or badly designed to take anything out.
