Have you ever been mugged?

An ethnic man approached us and asked for money.

Sorry this is bugging me, a few people have commented on it already as it just sounds weird.

You felt the need to mention race and presumably mean someone from an ethnic minority in which case you might as well say which. i.e. An Asian man, a black man...

'Ethnic man' in itself makes no sense as every man in effect has an 'ethnicity'.

My pal got mugged once, he was drunk and ended up bargaining with the mugger. He wasn't quite aware he was being mugged until half way through it and ended up sort of mugging the mugger. The guy wanted his phone and wallet. My pal explained there was no point in taking his phone, as he'd just get it blocked once he got home in 5 minutes and it would be worthless. He used the same reasoning to explain why it's pointless taking his wallet. His cards would be cancelled before he could use them, and what use did he have for his ID and other bits and bobs in his wallet? In the end, the mugger left with a tenner and a few coins. My pal kept his wallet, cards and phone. Good result!

I've had a ned pull a needle out on me before demanding cash. He got £1.

Had a friend whose friends were mugged in Central America.

Their bus broke down near where they had to get to, so rather than waits many hours to have it fixed, they decided to walk with their backpacks for a few hours. Along the way a car pulled up and several men robbed them at gunpoint. They took everything, and by everything I mean including their clothes.

Never been mugged myself. Not had much opportunity I guess.

I haven't been mugged myself but my mate was nearly mugged on a drunken night out years ago. Three of us walking back and some shady (none ethnic) person was following us, as it was three of us we ignored him. Me and my mate stopped off at a alley for a wee. While the other stood by the entrance, we heard a loud scream and we rushed back to our mate. To find the shady guy on the floor holding his face with loads of blood.
Unlucky for the mugger he went for my friend phone thinking he was abit of a push over, so my friend punched him in the nose, followed by a volley to the muggers face while he was on the floor.......we felt bad after leaving him on the floor but serves him right to trying to take what wasn't his.

Shame it didn't work out that way for another friend of mine, who lost his life after someone tried to steal his gold chain. He refused to give it to them so they shot him and left him for dead:(

Once when I was about 17, a couple of chavs (one good honest English lad, the other a dark menace) tried stealing my phone whilst I was using it. I simply said "Get the boys down here now!" to the mate I was speaking to and they ran off.

A lot of crime threads on here eh! :)

I got mugged once, think I was about 16 and had been out drinking a few beers with my mates in the park, on the way home we crossed at a roundabout and about 20 kids crossed and surrounded me. They asked for a beer, I said no, they told me they're gonna beat the **** outta me if I don't give em one, I said yes lol.

I had one left after that and the ***** snatched that off me and started walking off, I stupidly decided to go after him so he turned around and floored me with a headbutt... my nose hasn't worked right since :(

Lesson learned though... if you're outnumbered 20-1, suck it up and hand it over, it really isn't worth it.

This was in Harlow BTW, I've had no issues whatsoever in London (East End) and honestly feel safer, even with all the crazies.

What roundabout/part of harlow was this? Being nosey coz I live there lol

The last time was when I was 17 ish. I was walking at night in wandsworth town and some guy told me he would stab me if I did not give him my money. So I gave him a tenner and was on my way.

Another time I was walking home in Mitcham south west London and was attacked buy some guy, then a bunch of his friends arrived, a very kind person walking past tried to help me and ended up in the ICU. Everyone was caught and a couple of them did jail time.

Yep - a good ten years ago.

On the University Campus late one night after having had a pint and a few games of pool with a mate. Couple of blokes stepped out of the shadows, asked the time then demanded money. One produced a rather large knife and the other had a dog with him. We pegged it, the rottweiler was faster than me, grabbed my ankles and pulled me down. I got a bit of a kicking for the trouble and was relieved of my wallet containing a fiver.

Got back to the car to find it was missing a couple of windows. Some clown had broken in and tried to get to the boot via the back seats (which didn't fold). Having ripped the rear seat out only to find a bulkhead they kicked in the rear window, ripped out the parcel shelf ... and stole a carrier bag with some de-icer and scraper in it.

Not the best of days.

New Years Eve, Brussel, in Belgium.

Lots & lots of beer. Came out of a pub, we'd decided we need to go home. My buddy had decided he needed to call he sweet-heart (ex), which is fine.

Got talking to a group of guys waiting....but my alarm bells were ringing. I knew something was wrong. I could feel it.

While one guy was talking to me about crap another stuffed his hand in my jacket pocket and removed my phone.

I felt it happen, I *saw* it happen, I kind of almost expected it.

I then did something massively out of character. I grabbed the guy who took my phone, picketed him him up, put him on the floor and then said something really, really uncool:

"Can I have my phone back please?"

His friend then handed my phone. I said thanks, swore at him a bit, and he and his mates moved on.

I know now of course they were looking for hammered blokes walking about.

Apparently I was quite assertive about the whole thing. Personally, I've little recollection.

I've had a bit of a run in in Harlow as well. Wasn't mugged, but left a gig at the forum, and was with q couple of mates and a few of the girls, and these couples of guys started getting mouthy. Started squaring up to us and all that jazz, in the end the tips called them dicks and told them to **** off and they did.

Aside from that, I personally have never been mugged. Got picked up by one of my mates Parents once when was about 15, we left about 3 of my mates behind. As soon as we left two black guys came up to them, asked them for the time. Mates said they didn't have it knowing they were just trying to locate their phones. Then thu tried tapping their pockets etc, one of my mates pushed the guy away, the other black kid swing for him, by my other mate got in the way of the punch, and then the guy the punch was intendedfor hit back. Was a little scuffle and they ran of. This was in chigwell, Essex.

Around the same sort of age, was with the same group of mates. We had been smoking a couple of biftas and were chilling on a field. This group come riding up to us on our bikes to see what we were up to, clocked on but were acting all right. Asked to see my grinder with my weed in it etc, I thought nothing of it. They didn't run of. Then they kinda turned on us. One of them nicked my mates wallet, they all started riding of. We ran after them, caught them at the gate by jumping a fence, got my mates wallet back but not my weed. Wasn't too big a loss.

And my mum has been car-jacked twice. The first time was by two ****** in stapleford abbots, took mums Shogun. Got it back by tracking the sat nav special service.
The second time was in Woodford, Essex. Mum was posting something through a letterhox, two black guys in half-balaclavas run up to her, grab her arms, grab her bag and keys, jump in the range rover sport and drive of. Never saw it again but insurance paid out up to it's value at the point in time.

Also, one of my mates who was in both the scenarios I described above including my mates, his brother was on a bus home from London somewhere and got stabbed. Think they took his phOne

Never in Britain, had my phone stolen a few times though - tonight being the most recent time. Grr.

Only proper mugging was over in Vietnam, made a thread on here about it at the time. Got hit round the head with some sort of bat thing, then kicked in the ribs a few times on the floor. Wasn't a traditional "Give me your money or I'll hit you" mugging, more an "I'm going to beat you then take all your stuff" one. Ended up having to go back to Bangkok to go to hospital, and still have problems with my ribs years on - playing football as a goalkeeper leads to some recurring rib issues.

Took about $80 and my phone anyway. I'd just bought a new phone that day, so figured I was targetted for that, though I've spoken to someone else since being home who had the same thing happen in the same place 2 days later. Wrong place, wrong time, etc.

Love it when these threads surface. You can always find the "I once drank 15 pints, pulled Michelle Keegan and got jumped by 5 cage fighters; they came off worse" stories.

In fact, where's fish-finger sandwich boy and his stories of epic chivalry?

Do you mean The Square, or do you mean Hatfield? ;)

What roundabout/part of harlow was this? Being nosey coz I live there lol

Lol, it was the one opposite the Toby Carvery... always makes me laugh when I drive past it because it's tiny, couldn't have been a more obvious place to mug someone if there weren't so many of them.

Some chav asked me for 50p when I was 13/14, I refused and he pulled a screwdriver out on me. Still refused and being with another mate he gave up, after kicking me in the heel.
