I'm thinking of going down this year with a load of mates, has anyone else ever been ?

Can't decide wether to stick with the cheapest tickets (£100  ) or go for something which may result in actually getting a seat and a view.

Would appreciate any advice !

Been to the Friday practice before, but not the race. I'd really like to go though :)

I'd love to go but my sister tells me decent seats are £400 or so..dunno if she's right or not. Seems a bizzard figure.

the 120 ticket is a better bet, i went last year and camped over with some mates will be doing the same this year, really good laugh :)

Been several times, from sat on the grass, to grandstands to full VIP paddock stuff. Get a seat, if it's sunny sitting with the plebs on the grass is horrendous.

I'd like to echo this comment! Last year was an absolute nightmare. It was so hot, there was no shade, no where to sit and no where to stand with a good view! Bad experience me thinks. I ended up watching it on the screen behind me which defeated the object of going slightly.

Definately get a seat.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been, must be 15 or so. I get a pretty good view too, in a box 4th row back on the grid :D

If I had to pay then I don't think I would go as I find F1 a bit dull but it is a good day out, and much better since the roads around Silverstone were sorted out.

I stopped going about three or four years ago after I fell asleep during the race. Get a seat, in a covered area if you can do it.

there's a £90 difference between getting a seat and not.

What do you mean my sitting on the grass with the plebs ? Is it full of Chavs or something !

Most ppl who go on the cheap grass banks are tools, you have to get up a 5am if you want a good place on a corner as well....

do they allow alcohol in ? can you drink while watching the race ?

Is there a lot of "attitude" if so then forget it we'll do something else I've got no time for that

You can drink, yes. We were surrounded by kids with air horns last year, on the grass, which was horrible considering we'd been drinking all night the night before and hadn't had much sleep.

There never was. I don't know if it's still the same but I only ever saw good natured banter. It's not a thug filled football match.

Sitting on the grass is awful. When I was there (years ago) the tannoy system didn't work properly by Bridge so I had no commentary either.

Been the last 5 years on the trot and going this year also, id also recommend a covered grandstand seat, though I doubt any will be left for sale, I booked mine in November last year to secure a front row Luffield seat. I havent had the pleasure of sitting on the grass, but from what I can see its not a nice experiance, they get that tighly packed in youd need to arrive at 4am, find a nice location and not move for the rest of the day, as someone will kindly fill the gap you left. The atmosphere is fantastic and the only trouble ive witnessed has been due to folk returning from toilet breaks to find there pitch taken.

Been once before on the saturday and sunday, had an excellent weekend ... and that was with a general access ticket on the grass verge.

We got there about 7.30 and had cheap folding seats with us. Got a great spot on a corner beside some marshalls and had a brilliant day. Although got to agree that if you move, you will loose your spot, but thats not a huge problem if your not by yourself.

Sitting trackside was a great atmosphere, cant say i would knock it as much as everyone else.
