Have you ever fell for an Internet Hoax?

if you are stupid enough to fall for any internet hoax then you deserve to be taken to the cleaners.

419 scams for example rely on western greed to succeed. people want to get rich despite most of these scams involving defrauding poor african nations.

Surely 419 scams only exist because of African greed, no?

haha, I fell for one of those random "crush calculator" things a couple of months ago, I never believe things like that but do them just for a laugh when I'm bored. It tricked me and emailed someone what I'd put in :(

haha that reminds me
back in the days of school i emailed evryone in my list with something like that, they type in who they fancy etc

It kinda backfired when a fat, ugly burd that was a mates mate replied she fancied me, next day at school was akward to say the least :p

Not really a hoax but I fell for one of those screamers, thankfully the volume was turned down, more cautious now.

No. If no-one ever fell for them, the scammers would go and do something else.

It's because of the western greed of getting a lot of money for effectively nothing that the scams work.

I'm amazed that chain emails about such pointless tat as the "olympic torch virus" that "burns the zero sector of your hard disk" are still going around. Fortunately I've drilled it into most people in our company that they ask ME before forwarding them onto everyone, whereupon I point out that whatever it is is a complete load of toss and tell them to just delete it.

Mind you, I thought the same thing about a chain email with a massive PDF attachment that one of our directors sent round to everyone asking if we'd seen Madeline McGann. Jesus.

Some people just switch off and trust whatever garbage turns up on their computer screens. It's outrageous that people you'd consider quite intelligent just somehow become dribbling morons when presented with a keyboard and mouse...

My friend once got tricked by her brother. She asked me how to get revenge... we sent him a link to a well known shock site, which I don't think has been mentioned here yet.

Doubly funny as he's gay.

The people being scammed are victims of a crime by African Nigerians, lets not loose sight of that before you start blaming westerners for it.

You might as say if people wasn't so greedy and didn't buy expensive watches and have expensive phones they wouldn't get mugged for them. The mugger would go and do something else.
