Having a computer in another room possible?

As per title, I'd be interested in putting my computer in another room entirely to save some space, and to make my room silent.

Is this possible to do, and if so, how would I go about doing so?

I've got a 2560x1440 144hz monitorm so I guess that I would need a special displayport cable? Can USB go over a reasonable distance without issue, or would I look to wireless?

I never use CD's etc, so that shouldn't be an issue. :)

Thanks in advance! :)

How far away are you talking?

It wouldn't be a problem at all so long as you can feed your wires through. At my parents house some years back I had my PC in the loft and my mouse/keyboard/monitor in my bedroom.

Connecting USB and network hubs is worth it too. They're not very big and save a lot of messing around.

I can't advise about the monitor but I have run a mouse and keyboard over a 10m USB extension with no problems, also ran a 1080p display over 10m HDMI for the same reasons as you to keep noise down, this ran from my downstairs PC to upstairs, nice and silent.
Higher bandwidth devices like webcams don't tend to like USB extensions over 5m though.

Depends what you need it for.

I imagine that Steamlink would cover most gaming bases, gets rid of those cables too.

Other than that, HDMI cables can be pretty chunky and hard to hide sometimes. Dependant on the routing, it could work though.

1080p HDMI signals can be run over extensive distances with minimal work/repeaters but higher resolution/refresh rates can be trickier - 2560x 144Hz really doesn't like distance and DP repeaters, etc. aren't really designed for more than 1080p - they'll often claim 2560x at 60Hz and 4K at 30Hz but that is often at half their rated distance max and getting the higher refreshes stable depends a lot on luck.

There are many ways to extend USB peripherals over distance with minimal if any latency.
