I'm trying to enable AHCI on my motherboard but when I do I receive some errors on boot.

One error goes as follows:

"Serial ATA AHCI BIOS, Version iSrc 1.07 08042006
Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Intel Corporation
*** This version supports only Hard Disk and CDROM drives ***
Please wait. This will take few seconds."

Then it proceeds to scan the ports for devices.

The next screen says:

"GIGABYTE Technology Corp. PCIE-to-SATAII/IDE RAID Controller BIOSv1.06.59" blablabla, press any key to continue.

I know this is quite vague and I apologise, but I thought someone may have got this kind of error before. I went to the motherboard page on the Gigabyte site and downloaded the latest SATA RAID driver but it didn't appear to make any difference at all.

Thanks.

is this done after the OS has been on the PC for a while? I'd guess Windows, but you never know.

To enable AHCI, you need to install the drivers during windows install, doing the "press F6" thing. Although its not RAID, it works in the same way.

If anyone else has different experience, please say so, but as far as i know, this is it.
