Hayabusa thermostat going up after bike is off

My K2.. 2003 Busa does exactly the same thing.

Don't know why but have been told it's fine, the temp gauge goes up into the red as soon as I turn it off.

I can also cook eggs on the frame after a spirited ride☺

does it come back down again after some time being off?

or is it maybe a safety feature ie, when not powered needle goes to max, so that if your sensor ever fails the gauge automatically reads max instead of min to alert you there may be a problem?

Yes comes back down fine, I've had the bike 10 years and it hasn't caused any problems.

Can't tell if it has anything to do with the side stand as mines removed.

Has the OP bike had the side stand mod done? It was one of the first mod's people used to do on the 99-2007 Hayabusa.

They roll off the stand very easily if the mod isn't done.

Maybe when the pump stops a little pocket of steam forms around the aensor droving it high till it condenses

Check your indicator relay didn't get dislodged when you changed the battery, Suzuki run the indicators/side stand switch/and a few other things all through the same relay so if it's shorting out it may cause funny things like this.

Once off the side stand it goes down to normal.

Even with the kill switch set to off? Reading around it sounds like this is normal behaviour on the Hayabusa if you have the ignition turned on but any of the safety systems are activated such as sidestand, kill switch and maybe neutral switch.
