I've just been browsing a few sites for possible pre-orders and have been trying to decide between PC or 360 for cross platform games.

With many PC titles to be hand for ~£19.99 compared to ~£39.99 for the 360, it's time to decide what version to go for.

Is it worth £20 more for console "pick up and play" or to save 50% and have the possiblity of fiddling with settings/patches to get a PC game to play ball??

In my own situation I've got a reasonably well spec'd pc:

A64 3700+
2Gb Ram
7800 GTX

At the same time I've got a 360 Premium and Samsung 26" LCD.

In recent months I've got Ghost Recon AW for the 360 because it was out on 360 first (and also because I thought it would be a more demanding title for the pc), but bought COD2 for the PC for £20.

Which platform would you choose for a cross platform release?
360 £40
PC £20

Depends what type of game.

FPS = PC for certain
Sport/Racing = Console
Strategy = PC

I would have made similar decision before the 360 was out (although I went Xbox for Halo/Splinter Cell series FPS wise).

Looking to some future titles, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent is a PC/360 title and Gears of War is out on 360 soon but will be a PC Vista title.

I'm not die-hard "PC for FPS" person anymore as a pad is quite easy to handle if the control system is well made.

If it's an FPS then i'll go for the PC... Way easier to aim with a mouse.
If it's fighting/racing/sport i'd go with console.
RTS etc would be PC also.

And now i'd probably get a lot for the PC seeing as i can use my 360 controller on the PC. :)

Patches arent just a PC problem these days, some XBox 360 games need patching or have been patched :/

Its a difficult choice. Although i wouldnt say that FPS's are more fun on a PC. The mouse is a great tool and ideal for fps, but tbh, the controller is just as fun when it comes to the game and especially with a few of you sat around.

I agree with what's been said above - it really depends on the game.

Usually the PC is better for FPS, RTS and "deeper" single player games whilst consoles are great for sports, racing and anything with a multiplayer element.

You do realise that HDTV of yours has a VGA input and your PC will happily output HDTV resolutions for games? ;)

I find i get more enjoyment myself out my xbox360 games.Mainly because i seem to stick to playing them for much longer,,
where on the PC i seem to just play them for 10mins or so and then wonder off back to browsing the net all the time..
