probably the most talked about card atm.

just noticed the price has gone down to £250, whihc puts it smack on what people suggested.

What are peoples view's on this, it's faster than a 640MB 8800gts but at the same price it's a better buy as we had to wait for it.

Price drops this early are interesting, wonder if we will see any more soon. /Gibbo

HI there

I spoke with ATI/HIS this week and they decided to drop the price an additional $20 on the 200pcs we had arriving today.

So were just passing on this minor price drop. I doubt ATI will drop the price any further but there is nothing to say that we can't lower a margin a little and offer it on special deals with a furth £5-£10 discount applied.

Fact is OcUK now has ample product in stock, our price is what people were hoping for and we are now also building and shipping full systems with these cards in as well. :)

Some sites have been offering £250 from the get go, I think OC charged more because they were one of the few sites with cards at launch. It's a mark up for the impatient, if the cards start dropping lower though... then that's a different story.

[EDIT] and there you have it ^^ price premium on being first ;)

Gift.

Do these actually outperform 8800GTS 640MBs?

I can only assume the 2900 will get better over time with driver releases too. If my GC is dead then I am considering both of these. Almost the exact same price.

Just as I expected :) Now all I need is some special deal for next thursday when I get paid and I will be an owner of a shining new card :D

Very nice price drops now ... the £305 pound Asus card is just beginning to look a little stupid :p

Once this card hits near £200 I will seriously look into getting one to replace the ol' x1900

And by that time hopefully ATI will have improved matters a little with some decent driver revisions

According to AMD's official statement, the AA/AF 'problem' is hardware related, so drivers can't fix it.

Base your decision on the facts, not assumptions. If you honestly think new drivers will make a big difference, then wait that bit longer for the next release and then decide.

Excuse me? That's one area where they will not perform a whole lot better with better drivers. That doesn't mean we won't see some performance boosts as the drivers mature.

Take a look at the 8800 series. With the latest drivers they perform much better then when they were first released.

My "assumption" was I think justified.

No, once AA/AF is apllied the x2900 cripples as they changed the way it does it, big mistake imo. :(

I've seen that post myself.. very odd on ATis part.

We'll be using the source engine for our game though so I'd probably go for the card that's best in source games. I assume ATi still top those figures atleast. I'll have to see if I can find a performance benchmark done in source to see if it suffers from the same AA/AF dropoff.

Water cool my X1900XTX and CPU or buy a HD2900XT...

Hmmmm

if you have a crossfire motherboard, get a 2900, and the x1900xtx would do all the phyisics on all games so the 2900 is just raw 3d image power

But how long till this is implimented, or is it allready in the Drivers.
