Hi Quick question really.

Ive had enough of the noise the stock fan on my HIS 4870 creates, I have a Zalman GV1000 which I was using on an old HD3850AGP Jobby but it hasnt been used for a year so checking Zalmans site I can stick it on my 4870

Im aware that the VRM's on this board need cooling, Basically been moochying about and found two Heatsinks that I can use:-

ZM-RHS70
ZM-RHS90

Am I right in thinking either will go on a HIS HD4870 512mb? I was all set for the 70 but then saw the 90 and Im thinking what is that extra bit of heatsink covering.

Thanks for any advice.

Ive read that too but to be honest I havent taken off the stock cooler so I suppose its well worth a look & see if it will all go together.

I'm using a 4870 saphire with a T-rad2 fitted + 2 80mm fans. The trad comes with a lot of heat sinks for you to attach. I bought some aftermarket conductive tape and attached them all over the card. I've never seen my VRM go above 65 load.

I used an ZM-RHS70 on a stock sapphire 4870 512mb with an ac twin turbo and both combined done a great job. Without the ZM-RHS70 though my VRMs were cooking so be careful.

Thanks for the replies, I decided to go with the GV1000 & Zalman RHS-90 Heatsink, got it all fitted on my lunchbreak, & it actually looks quite smart ;) just ran the Crysis benchmark tool and temps stay about the same as it was before except I have the fan set to its lowest rev compared to quite high before & its so much quieter.

Whats a good program to check Vrm temps? im using the latest version GPUZ but beyond GPU Temp I dont have a clue what im looking at.
