HD555 or HD595

How much is your budget...

I myself was going for a 555 but after some reviews i didnt want to regret getting the 595 and went for them (still have to arrive).

Also the price of the 555 has gone up in the last couple of days... cheapest I found is £77 from a competitor who has the 595 for £118.

Other prices for the 555 are at £90 from other retailers.

Tbh there isnt too much difference between them as people usually point out but if the 555s are £90, personally I would get the 595

According to someone that 'disected' HD555 and HD595 on head-fi, the difference between the two is literally a bit of internal plastic in the HD555. Take it out and you essentially have the HD595.

If that's true, I'd just get whichever is cheaper.

So the HD555 are like the 595, but crippled? ...but you can uncripple them?

Are sennheiser just robbing b******s or is it a really timely job taking out the piece of plastic? (that was presumably put there in the first place by them to get more money out of people)

I wouldn't even say crippled really. Just different. You could look at it the other way and wonder why the HD595 uses less components but costs more.

Surely people look at this sort of stuff before spending £130 on headphones? so to OP, i guess the answer is 555s, save ureself some money and take out the plastic bit if you want

yes the sound is a bit different due to the plastc thingy... but i dont like to mod a brand new item so i just splashed £30 more and got the 595 and plan on keeping them for a few years...

Having listened to both, with and without a headphone amp.... Personally I prefer the sound of the 555's with a headphone amp.

I got mine AND a Pro-ject headphone amp for £20 more than the 595's alone... (the headphone amp was 2nd hand)

My brother has DR100 I have HD595

They both sound great, but I reckon the 595 would be more comfortable after a full day of gaming..

The desk stand thing that you get with the 595's is awesome too
