HDD Help ! Is my RAID really dieing ??

Hi

I have recently got a new nForce mobo and installed all the Nvidia software including their SMART drive monitor.

It almost instantly started showing "predicted hardware failure" one one, then the other, then both drives in the RAID0 array I have.

I have ran windows scan disk and nothing is showing, also HD Tune shows / finds no errors.

I have tried several disc scanning progs i have downloaded, but the majority wont / cant scan the discs are they are in RAID !

For now I have disabled NV SMART scan because its a PITA - but as nothing else appears to show the drives have any errors, I was wondering if anyone could suggest / reccomend any other way of determining if I do have drive(s) about to pack in ?

This is one of the problems with RAID arrays - you can't talk to an individual disk to run any diagnostics.

I would start with the easy things - change the SATA cables, check the power connections etc. If those don't make any difference then you've got a difficult choice to make - leave the error alone and hope that it's a SMART false positive or break the array and test the drive independently.

I swapped out the power and SATA cables, and it is happening a lot less frequently, im convinced its probably a software error (*crosses fingers*)
