I have added a 2nd HDD to my B450 Aorus Elite system. As the two main SATA connectors were already in use, I connected the new drive to the ASATA3 connectors. But the drive isn't being detected by Windows.
Anyone know whether these connectors are intended for normal HDD's, and if so why it's not being detected?

Use "main" SATA connectors.
If you have anything in M2A slot, both ASATA3 0 and 1 are disabled.
Besides suspect that first A means Asmedia, whose SATA controllers are in general considered garbage.

(and M2B shares/steals wiring from SATA3 2 and 3)

Ah OK thanks - that would explain it
