hdmi or dvi monitor?

HDMI and DVI are the same thing (bar sound), they just have different connectors at the end.
In its simplest terms, you could compare it to USB and Mini USB, the same cable, does the same thing, except that it's got a different connector.

HDMI will transfer sound, so if you want to use built in speakers that's the way to go, but otherwise there's no real difference in image quality. HDMI is the way to go if you want to use it for console gaming as well though (DVI-PC HDMI-console)
