Howdy,

I've got a 22" Samsung widescreen monitor that I want to plug my laptop into. My laptop has HDMI and VGA. The Monitor has a VGA and DVI-D (the one without the pins above+below the flat pin, see below) but the VGA on the monitor is currently taken up by my XBox 360 and I don't want to have a faff about with unplugging stuff all the time. I think that stops me from using the VGA off the laptop (not compatible with DVI-D), can someone point me at the specific adaptor I will need to plug the HDMI into the DVI-D of the monitor.

If possible leads/adaptors that people know work, not nonsense ones off of ebay or amazon with pap reviews, and preferably quite cheap! That said if a VGA switch is a better/cheaper option the I'm all for that too.

DVI-D:

Both work, the converter tends to bend down when plugged into the laptop due to the small size of the hdmi port, doing it the other end requires the monitor has enough space around the port, so the cable is ideal.

Ah, sorry - thought you just needed an adapter (ie already had the HDMI cable).

If not then that cable will work great.

Both work, the converter tends to bend down when plugged into the laptop due to the small size of the hdmi port, so the cable is ideal.

With the adapter above you install it onto the monitor, not the laptop - effectively making the monitor's DVI port accept HDMI connections (minus the sound signal).
