After looking at thumpers HDR shot which combined three seperate shots to give excellent results I thought I would give it a go the cheats way :)

I dug through my library to find a RAW shot which had light/dark extremes

All conversions were done using Elements 3.0 & PhotoMatix pro (trial) at default settins with no tweaking and saved to .jpg at max quality

Original , straight conversion from RAW :-

I then did two versions , one with exposure set to -1 & the other +1

and the result came out as this :-

Not a dramatic result as thumpers but does bring out quite a bit more of the detail from an 'old' shot :)

Its good but there is just somthing "unreal" about HDR images, they just dont sit quite right at the moment....cant quite pinpoint it.

The first image looks better in my opinion, I think there must be a certain type of picture that is suited to HDR and that flower maybe aint it, perhaps because of the large areas of constant colour. The resulting image seems to have turned everything grey!

Maybe some more work in levels/curves would bring it back?
