Could not find a previous thread for this.

if it didn't work well for publishing partners then surely they wouldn't release it through steam? most game stores will drop the price and often hike it back up. It looks like he's just making snide but indirect comments towards valve.

To be honest, he is talking mainly pap. Clearly they want to do their own thing and thats fine, but you know the customers enjoyment is not no 1 on their list, its your wallet.

on the flip to that, clearly Gabe and the team want to make money, but you get the feeling its not their no 1 goal, the customer is much higher up if not no 1 on their list

You have two clearly diffrent companies working in the same retail space, one is ready to sell its monther the other is not and with a shifty looking front man for origin thats why "We love Valve" 5UB even has a thread about it!

I think its funny that people picture valve as a big fluffy teddy bear.

If you were drowning in a well they wouldn't rush to save you.

They are a game developer/reseller.

I would not expect them to save me.

I would call 999.

I do laugh at the thought of ringing E.A and saying:

Me:"Help, I am on fire"
E.A Rep: "We can sell you a fire blanket for £9.99"

I'm not sure anyone thinks Valve are a fluffy teddy, but the choice between a company that has the worst rep in gaming and does a grand job at keeping it vs almost anyone else not just Valve its not even a sit and a think moment. Did EA win a little award for worst company in the USA this year, clearly the team to back.

Also not sure Gabe rush's to anything, its been how long for Half life 3 and thats so far and the wait goes on, but i bet once he got to you he would not be thinking how much could he charge to pull you out.

I think his main point is that sales are for pussy companies that aren't hell-bent on pinching every possible penny from your account.

Hard to take seriously to be honest.

If it wasnt for the steam sales i wouldnt have bought M&B Napoleonic wars. I've already had my $8.74 worth and i've only had it since sunday :)

you obviously had the origin program wide open on your desktop for it to be using so much memory.

with origin and steam both minimised to the taskbar i get

and the guy is right "deep discount" sales on steam do cheapen intelectual property because loads of people will wait for a game to be on one of those sales before buying it when otherwise they would have bought it full price.
