I finished my new build yesterday and everything was up and running perfectly.

Then I was messing around with the monitor changing it from DVI to HDMI connection and a message came up something about the audio. Anyway I thought nothing much about it but the display looked bad so I went back to DVI.

Only now I realise I have lost the playback for my headphones. I used to be able to right click the sound icon in the system tray and change the playback from speakers to ear phones. Now that option has disappeared and I have no idea how to get it back.

Windows 8.1, Venom XT (USB) headphones - would appreciate some help cheers

Solved,

Disconnected them and uninstalled all sound devices from device manager, scanned for hardware changes and now its back. Strange thing is they are detected as Speakers not headphones.

When you connect using HDMI the graphics card's on board sound probably became the active device - all you need do is reselect your USB device as default audio device and the problem should go away.
