Headphones without in-line controls?

Can anyone recommend me a good pair of stereo headphones without in-line volume controls? Or knows of any company that has managed to produce headphones with in-line controls, that don't render them anoying to use after a year's use? (Move volume slider slightly, and sound crackles or only comes out of one ear.)

I need some new ones for gaming/music, after my Medusas have become intolerable to use. Any suggestions welcome.

PS: I want to shoot whoever came up with in-line controls for headphones.
