heads of 23 people found in boxes

It's all extortion like if a taxi firm doesn't pay them they go about shooting the cab drivers, it's a ****ed up place. Would be fearing for your life going to and from work since you hear about them going into buses and killing everyone and hanging people from bridges.

the problem isnt the producers, it's the USERS..... no demand will mean less supply.... if there is demand, you'll never eradicate supply....

unfortunately you'll never get rid of all users, but our society takes a far too lenient approach.....

you can get rid of the fields where all the stuff is grown and wherever these 2000 zetas live which i doubt is on a residential estate

These will be replaced by new plots. Then more violence as new gangs/cartels start up. Cos theirs lots of money to be made selling it to the west.

No, they don't live on an industrial estate but they are ex special forces and have better equipment than the military hunting them. They have police officers and politicians in their back pocket. It is like medusa, with every head of a cartel you kill it splits into 2 and starts fighting each other. Currently there is 1 cartel that has grown in size and significance whilst many of the others have lost power.

It is very localised fighting as it is a turf war between rival drug cartels to decide who controls the most profitable drug routes into the US. Fascinating story about how they gained power; essentially growing from transporting the drugs for the columbians into the US to producing, transporting and selling the drugs for themselves.

In terms of a country Mexico is fine to go to as long as you avoid the border with the US, Acapulco and Monterrey. Mexico City is fine if you are staying in reasonable areas, and Cancun has had very limited problems. The last stats I saw said something along the lines of 90% of deaths are cartel members, 7% were police/military and 3% were innocent bystanders.

Always find it astonishing when people say 'oh my god the whole of mexico is a war zone don't go or you'll die'. It is an emerging market that has an incredible amount of sights of cultural and historical significance. If you are going ignore the naysayers and go and enjoy.
