Heads up: Great budget lid!

I know my head size but I thought the general consensus on purchasing a helmet was to try it on in a store first?

In theory at that price I'd be happy to spend if it doesn't fit..

just measure the circumference of your head, cant go much wrong, pick the correct size helmet

some might feel tight but loosen up with time

The only problem you might have is, a big forehead.

AGV = For people with small round ball shaped head, like those little balls primary school children play football with.
Shark = Fits most
Shoei = I don't know how they do it, but even Schuberth wasn't as snug and comfy. I could wear the GT Air all day long! :D
Arai = Similiar to AGV, just feel more premium and with those you can have a slightly bigger forehead.
Can't remember what else I tried on, I tried various models in different price ranges. I would spend at least 100 on something that protects my head though, not saying those cheaper helmets are bad. It's just my head and I value it. :p

Proven, but it's up to you if you're interested enough to dig up the articles as I'm not going to.

Ok Googled it and can only see that people 'feel' it's safer.

Not an issue for me I suppose as no 4XL helmets have DD rings from what I can see.

It's the racing groups that insist on D rings for safety. I'm not going to be home to get the relevant articles for a while.

Shame they are out of Medium now.
They do a LS2 FF351 (£22.50) however such a big drop in the rating: http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testsratings/ls2-ff351
Yeah you definitely want the 352 version...

There are a few other sellers doing the grey (with Medium available) for around £35 which is still a good price... Just search "LS2 Rookie"

Not sure why the grey is so cheap!?

I've never used a D ring but I can't imagine I'd have a hope in hell of managing to do one of them with my gloves on whereas the quick release ones are nice and easy even with gloves.

It's very easy once you get used to it, but then again you can just put your gloves on after your helmet which seems the most sensible solution. I had an AGV with a buckle and it did the job but took some fiddling to get it just right, whereas a D ring provides exactly the right fit every time and I probably wouldn't go back to a buckle again.

I had some cheap helmet with D ring before, it was a pain in the... I now have this type of lock (not my picture btw)

So much easier and there's no hassle with it!

You'll find over time that the strap will loosen and you'll have to keep adjusting it, at least with the D rings, it'll never come loose when wearing it.

I'll change helmets every 2-3 years anyway, I have some of the foam that you can just spray in the helmet to keep it nice and fresh. But over time due to hygiene and the durability you should change the lid. My fell from knee level onto grass next to road with little stones, it has some nasty scratches even though the drop wasn't serious.

I'll buy the Shoei GT Air when I get my next bike, that helmet seems to be popular on here and oh boy its comfy! :D You can see where your money really goes and where e.g. Shark has cut costs on production of their helmets.

Mines like that ic3,on my airoh

Bout 4 years old now and still fine,I've had d ring before on avg, they are OK aswell

All my insides you can remove and throw in the washer

The thing is, I don't really have any other hobbies which I don't mind spending money on. Motorcycles are like the only thing, that's why buying a lid every 2-3 years doesn't seem like a waste of money.

I think I can take my shark apart partially, I don't think the whole thing comes out. I would have to double check...

Never could get along with the buckle on my original, first helmet, it just didn't feel secure enough. Maybe I just have a short chin :p

D ring all the way. Tight as you want every time :)
