Telegraph.co.uk said:
Twelve years ago, Sonny Graham's heart was failing and he was on the verge of death, until he received a call from doctors, saying a donor heart had just become available.

That heart belonged to Terry Cottle, 33, who had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

The operation was a success and soon after, Mr Graham, 69, contacted the organ donor agency, saying he wanted to thank Mr Cottle's family.

He began writing to Mr Cottle's widow, Cheryl, 39, and they soon fell in love and were married in 2004, moving to the US state of Georgia.

After the wedding, Mrs Graham said: "It helped me so much. Meeting Sonny made it easier for me, knowing something so good came from something so bad."

In a newspaper article published in 2006, Mr Graham said he felt an instant and unusual attachment when he met his donor's widow.

"I felt like I had known her for years," Mr Graham said. "I couldn't keep my eyes off her. I just stared."

But now, 12 years after the operation, Mrs Graham's life has been rocked by another tragedy.

Mr Graham killed himself with a shotgun, in circumstances similar to those which claimed Mr Cottle's life.

His friends said he had shown no signs of being depressed and were at a loss to explain his sudden death.

According to scientists, there are more than 70 documented cases of transplant patients taking on some of the personality traits of the organ donors.

Either that guy got some of the donor's personality traits or that women's cursed (be it she's killing them or she's too damn annoying to live with after so many years?)

Very interesting story; anyone here have a transplant? Have you changed in any way?

Coincidence.

According to scientists, there are more than 70 documented cases of transplant patients taking on some of the personality traits of the organ donors.

Right so none of these groundbreaking ultra-credible scientists wanting a name check then? and 70, wow... if there had only been 70 transplants ever carried out with both the donor and the donee had both been subject to psychological tests, fully determining which personality traits each had pre and post op. Then it would still be an extreme mental case whom makes the leap of; "I recieved a murderer's blood and now I want to go out and kill people!"

If you in anyway believe a single word of such nonsense, I can only hope whatever line of work you're in bares absolutely no social responsiblity and the amount of people you have infected with being-a-bit-dim is few.

coincidence.

My lecturer has told me of a number of cases which are similar to the story in the OP, i.e patients taking on the traits of there heart donors. e.g Elderly man becoming unusually aggressive after taking boxers heart, people with no history of musical interest or talent becoming suddenly liking music and playing it after taking musicians heart, etc.

With a low sample of 70 then its hard to tell whether it was due to the transplant or co incidence, time will tell. I'm also pretty sure my lecturer told me about some kind of brain cells being found in the heart (or similar cells to brain cells in the heart) I think that would help in explaining some of these incidents...

Blowing your brains out being one of the fastest and least-painful ways to die, combined with the ease of acquiring said gun in US...

Going to have to say coincidence.

This elderly man who become unusually aggressive after taking the boxer's heart... so he was laying in his bed post op and a bell rung and he just started hitting people? Who exactly was it who was documenting his mental state pre and post op with the intent of preventing him from trying to become world heavy weight champion. Honestly... just think about what you're suggesting for a single second, you should actually feel the this-is-nonsense switch flip in your skull.

Coincidence.

How many times do you ever hear a scientists name, unless it is an incredibly public interest theory/experiment/disaster?

Please as you have a grasp on brain chemistry and the entire of human physiology far in advance of every other human, enlighten us with your peer reviewed and published dismissal of these theories :)

The onus is not on me to disprove, it is on those making such radical claims to back it up... as that article didn't provide any links to any peer reviewed scientific papers, which oddly enough tend to include names of the scientists behind them then I will stand by my viewpoint.
