Been waiting for a year since it's announcment and I've had mine on Pre-order for the last week at Gamersgate, I'm hoping there servers are not hit hard next Friday as I want it downloaded asap.

Expecting a demo next week they doubt they can have it done on the Monday so expect a Tuesday or Wednesday release for the Demo.

I am really looking forward to the improvements they have this time around. Features such a full Logical system, over 10,000 provinces, customisable divisions and improvements from the other games Paradox make. The AI has apparently also been improved but we won't know until next week.

was gonna get HOI2, ill wait now

wahts the learnign curve like?

Well one of the new features allows you to assign certain aspects over to the AI.

I imagine that should allow you to focus on the different parts of the game which should lower the learning curve. Besides with the demo out next week that should give a good indication of what the learning curve will be, but I can tell it will be long.

As a massive fan of the Advanced Third Reich "boardgame" by Avalon Hill, I've always wanted to get into the HOI series. Unfortunately despite several attempts I just cannot seem to adjust myself from my turn based strategy gaming preference. I know you can slow it down etc, but its just not the same as being truly turn based.

Would LOVE a turn based HOI. But sadly its not to be.

Paradox Interactives treat for the community today was the Manual in PDF format.

They also confirmed the demo will be released on Tuesday at 9am PST, which I think is 5pm GMT.

Demo details:
You will be able to play the 1939 scenario for 4 months, until January 1940, as either Germany, Poland, France or United Kingdom, with full access to all gameplay features. The demo will also contain the tutorial.

Going to take some time to get through this. Looking forward to tomorrows demo as well sounds like it's going to be a great scenerio to try out.

Looks great, always wanted to get into this series but somehow never did, as I love games with ton of tactical depth. Can't wait for the demo!

Downloaded it and tried it...well...I say tried it. More like I stared it at blankly before my eyeballs exploded :)

Even with my background in the Advanced Third Reich (boardgame) looking over it I think it would take me months to work out what the hell is what and what all these icons and menus and options do.

(by the way..sidenote...and sure it will be modded...but I do find the lack of swastikas and such SO infuriating. Never liked this whole tippy toeing around history lark. But thats just a minor thing and not aimed solely/directly at the game)

I adore serious strategy games..always haved ever since I first played Squad Leader etc by Avalon Hill 30 years ago. The trouble is, and this is more to do with me than the game, I simply havent got the time now to learn something like HOI3.

Looks like a solid game though, would have thoroughly enjoyed this 15 years ago I reckon. Or alternatively, in another 15 years time maybe. Just not right now at this point in my "schedule". If that makes sense.
