can you use this to cover large sections of wires e.g. fan wires?

also how do you get the molexes off?

Yes. You can even buy a kit from a certain highstreet electrical shop. If you look at the molex there is a little tang that you can push in with a small screwdriver. The wire should just pull out, you have to bend the tang back on re -fitting.
