Heh, I guess Mike Lawrence @ Pitpass doesn't rate Alonso....

I'm not exactly an Alonso fan but he was trying to overtake in a car on its third engine against a pretty quick Renault, who had the best F-duct on the grid also with a new engine.

Surprised he didn't have a lunge through.

You can overtake in Abu Dhabi, it just takes balls.. something Alonso has lost this season. Yeh he had them in the past but hes been a whiney monobrow twerp this year. article is spot on tbh

So Hamilton didn't have any balls either? Despite having nothing to lose Hamilton had one look at Kubica and then got on the radio. So hamilton didn't have any balls or heart for it either?

Myself I think it's more to do with the drive the Renaults had at that particular circuit.

Again it's totally ridiculous for Lawerence to have ago about one driver complaining then put another who was atleast as bad this year at no3.

nice back track, we are still all waiting to know what series you have raced in.

Back track? My point still stands, I simply didn't intend to sound like I was attacking the OP personally. I currently have a single seater - prior to that 16 years in karts. I don't know anyone who races who shares the view that it's that easy to just take a lunge in F1.

Ah,"monobrow twerp" .. nice .. seems you can't seperate your personal dislike of Alonso from objective reasoning. I assume you also believe Hamilton also lacks balls for not having a lunge at Kubica despite Hamilton having even less to lose than Alonso?
As I said in a post above - there's plenty you could criticise Alonso for this season, but I don't think being able to pass Petrov is one of them.

Personally think Alonso SHOULD have tried some kind of do-or-die move in AD on Petrov, at least he would have tried to make up a place rather than just doing nothing after the pitstop

If it had worked (especially soon after pitstop had completed) who knows how many other cars he might have got past also, and if it didnt work 1) at least he tried, and 2) its unlikely he would have been punished detrimentally to 2011

Really glad he didnt win the WDC though - after Hockenheim it would have stunk to high-heaven if he had won!!

sounds like your regulat hamilton fanboy who hates alonso..

alonso isnt the only person not able to overtake this year...and hamilton has moaned about as much on the team radio

And if he had've taken himself and petrov out and then Vettel broke down the same people would be saying what an idiot he was. It's pretty obvious he couldn't get close enough for a stab down the inside and neither could hamilton who had nothing to lose.

If it was possible you can bet hamilton would have tried it.
