I've finally given in, I reckon if I have a camera I won't get into as many arguments with plebs in cars.
This morning a car pulled straight out of a side street forcing me to brake hard and we're facing each other. Even though his wife was shouting at him for nearly hurting me he wouldn't have none. Anyway, a passer by said 'get one of those cameras mate and he wouldn't argue' and I've actually heard this said a few times.
I don't want to spend too much, I don't want a big square thing on top of my head so what have you got?

Thanks

Here you go if you want to have a laugh at my voice, it gets higher when I'm angry :D He was just behind me on the approach to the roundabout so I was there first and then he tried to left hook me. The voice you hear saying "I saw that" was one of about 10 hospital staff. He did actually make contact with me because he opened up a cut on my knee and bent my mirror back.
What goes through some motorists heads that they have zero respect fopr a cyclist?

Personally I would take the lane to stop a car coming up next to you there, check over my shoulder to see what the car was doing or looked like it was going to do.

The way you stay left & hug the left cycle lane when you get to the roundabout does give the impression you are going to turn.

Stay safe everyone :)

However for over four years that is exactly the route I have taken. 1000s of other cars have worked out every night what I'm doing except for this one driver. I wouldn't have minded if he'd offered up some excuse but he was like a frightened rabbit.
I wish I had it helmet mounted so you could see exactly where I was to where he was and I did turn round to see where he was. I also have a mirror which I check about every 5 seconds so can see when some idiot comes up my right and starts indicating left. I got off from the roundabout way before him so he would have to put his foot down to left hook. I was very nearly near the middle bollard before he hit me so I have no idea what was going through his head. There were about 6 witnesses on that left corner with a couple of cyclists and you hear one shout out "I saw that". Like I say, first idiot in over four years.

Funnily enough since that incident I started to take control of the lane and position myself half way in it and I now get drivers beeping at me for the first time. I've even had two cars narrowly missing me going up the inside of me to turn left.

Don't get a Drift, they're end up being a faff to turn on and off (hold it down till it turns out,

Not one problem except for remembering to turn it on before I set off and I have very thick Sealskinz winter gloves. I tried that Contour in Currys, did not like.

The one time I forgot to turn it on was the second day and it would have made a really funny film.
A car pulled out on me from the left and aimed straight at me forcing me to brake hard and he stopped. He got out screaming his head off and a couple of pedestrians had a right go at him but he told them to FO. he kept on and then asked me what I'd got to say so I just pointed at my new Drift and said 'All the evidence is there mate. You can either apologise or look for your car number on You Tube tonight" and he got straight back in his car. It was only then I noticed I hadn't turned it on :D

After a series of crazy events these last few days, I have decided to get a helmet camera. Preferably a side mounted one, what is the general consensus? I'd only be using it for half hour commutes and would need to record well at night.

Contour Roam 3 or Drift Stealth but I'll recommend the Drift.
I have no problems turning it on and off with thick Sealskinz Winter gloves and it records well in low light - you can see the quality up above of me on black ice.
If I can be bothered I'll upload footage in low light.
