I need some help speccing a new gaming PC as my current one has done me proud for the last 7-8 years but has reached the point of retirement.

I've always bought pre-built systems in the past and have gone back and forth on whether to try and build my own this tme, but I will most likely buy another pre-built system from Overclockers.

I'm really not up to date with the latest technology so have been doing some reading and I'm currently leaning towards a Z270 motherboard with i7 7700k processor, where I get confused is with picking the actual components as there are so many to chose from with nothing obvious (to me) that makes one stand out from the other.

My budget is £3000 which will include the new PC and a monitor, most likely the Acer Predator XB271HU 27" 2560x1440 Widescreen LED Monitor

Using the Kabylake Z270 Pro Gaming PC Configurator I have come up with the spec below...

Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Midi Tower Case
ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i7-7700k 4.2GHz (Kaby Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor
Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 Exterme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit
Asus GeForce GTX 1080 DirectCU III Strix Advanced Gaming Aura RGB 8192MB GDDR5X PCI-E
Samsung SM961 Polaris 256GB M.2-2280 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe Solid State Drive (for OS)
Samsung 1.0TB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive
Super Flower Leadex II 850W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 10 64-Bit

Total: £2,335.81

This is slightly over budget with the monitor but should be ok.

Can anyone advise if this is a decent build, are there any weak points or better options from those available on the configurator? I've included the liquid cooler although I don't think this system comes overclocked so it may be overkill.

The other option is the Titan Gladius Overclocked SLI Pro Gaming PC but with a 1080 graphics card rather than 1080i - would that be a better option?

Many thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

That's great, thankyou for your feedback.

Just out of interest, if I did decide to build something myself and with the same budget in mind, are there any improvements that could be made?

If you build it yourself then it would be cheaper, below is my build to compare.

Improvements would be like your motherboard which is a higher spec than mine or you could maybe get a 1080ti which can handle games at 4k 60fps. Also you dont need a 850w psu only if your going to add another graphics card to go sli a 600w would be fine for a single card and a decent overclock.

Just remeber Overclockers a great warrenty and service if your unsure wether to build it yourself.

This board has a 4yr warranty, Soundblaster X-Fi emulation and RGB zone control.

Spend another £30 and you can have the Aorus GTX1080Ti with some very high clock speeds , 4yr warranty and RGB lighting.
