Hi all, which should i get, i am stuck between both of these cards, and also why you chose one over the other.

1: HIS Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB GDDR3, PCI-Express, ViVo/HDCP, 2xDVI/HDMI @ €395.

2: XFX GeForce 8800GTX 630M 768MB XXX GDDR3 ,PCI-Express,2xDVI/HDTV/HDCP,630/2000Mhz @ €667

What Res do you play at?

currently @ 1280 x 1024 on a 19" but getting a 24" Monitor so will have to lash that up

Given the massive price difference I would go for the 2900XT. Its not quite as fast, but the GTX certainly isn't worth that much more imo.

Second will be better at high res, but its hellishly expensive. So its all about how much you are happy to spend.

Both will perform well though

For a 24" monitor I'd recommend the GTX, as it can handle any game at 1920x1200, max detail with plenty of AA/AF. The HD might struggle with some games at that resolution, forcing you to lower the detail/AA/AF.

Thats only short-term though, whenever you're near the peak of a GPU's performance you won't be able to run those detail levels for long due to new games being released. Better to get a slightly lower performing, but lot cheaper card now, and just upgrade a little more regularly.

XFX GeForce 8800GTX 570M 768MB GDDR3, PCI-Express, 2xDVI/HDTV/HDCP, 384-bitjust ordered one of these it will cost €515.70 as i will not have to pay vat.

Thanks for all the reply's

Its going onto a abit IN-9 32xMax Mobo, 4Gb corsair dom 8500c5d, 620 Corsair PSU, C2Due E6700, Creative Xi-Fi Xtreme, 3 x 15k 72Gb + 1 15k 146Gb Cheeta Scsi Hard disks with a Adaptec 29320A-R Scsi Controller. And all slapped into a Thermaltake Tai-Chi water cooled case.
That case is bloody huge and it should have no problems fitting.
