Help diagnose TV problem

My brother has just moved into a new house and the previous owners left him a TV.

But it seems to have a problem with a thick black line going just off centre down the screen. Is this fixable?

Probably the edge connectors on the panel have come unglued. There's quite a lot about this on YouTube

I think you just found out why they left it behind.

Also, horizontal stripes behind the TV seems an odd choice, very distracting.
