I've been asked to do some photography for this fashion thing and I hoping you guys could give me some tips :p

350D + Sigma 10-20 + Canon 18-55 + Canon 70-300

Now its not a brilliant setup for what I plan to do, but as you can buy a Canon 50mm F1.8 for £60/70 if its a really good idea I might get one.

So any tips!?

Indoor or outdoor ? What is the light like ?

Is it a catwalk or portraits ?

Outdoor would be easier with natural light

Indoors will be much harder, using flash as main source of light but you don't want harsh shadows.

The 50mm works very well from what i've heard and is very sharp - i've got the f1.4 version and it's amazing how easy it is to handshoot in fairly dark conditions.

As yak mentions... look into a flash if your budget permits.

Well, the budget is infact... 0!

I was planning to get a 50mm F1.4 anyway, but as I wont have the money for that for at least a year a F/1.8 will have to do.

So a flash @ £150 is out of the question as well :(

Bit annoying really as this could be something and I totally aint setup for it :(

Can't do it outdoors?

You'd be surprised how well the 1.8 works in low light. I've shot in very low light and it's performed extremely well with little noise.

Are you looking for shooting tips? or tips for working with the model/s?

Both :p

I've never done anything like this before :p

Oh and it'll be on a roof, so therefore on a sunny day :p

50mm f1.8 will be absolutely fine then. It's great value for such little (in lens terms) outlay! :)

Plus, if you have probs with the AF you can always focus manually.

Ok I've done a shoot before and doing another this weekend, I was told and also found that talking to the model/s is the best way to keep them relaxed, find loads of examples and rip em off the net of the sort of work you want to do. Talk to the model/s and show them the pictures, discuss what he/she is comfortable with, maybe ask them if there are any particular poses they'd like to do.

But whilst shooting, keep talking to them, complemeant them, the more relaxed they are the less they'll worry about the lens and that's when they look best infront of the camera, even though they are posing, they look natural.

Good luck! and I hope you post the results :)
