Help getting MKV 3D movies playing via steaming..

Streaming via HTPC running Plex ----------------- Nvidia shield TV

Movies don't seem to play in 3D, but just 2D.

Is there some trick?.

I have tried renaming a file. Avatar.3D.SBD

But doesn't work

Doesn't look like a fix either, some say kodi works but only with Halfres SBS 3D films

What appears on the screen? Two pictures side-by-side? I've watched a few 3D movies through Plex but on my AppleTV. The picture comes out as SBS and I then have to turn on 3D mode on the TV which then combines them.

Just standard 2D

Plex (or anything really) doesn't support proper 3D like you get on blurays only side by side, so the video is 2D and you'll see it playing in two boxes next to each other.

You then need to turn on your TV's 3D mode and it will overlay those 2 video boxes to create a 3D image.
