Ok got couple of questions so bare with me

1. Will i see a huge performance drop jumping from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 using 4850 with 512mb?

2. Will an around 3 yr old antec neopower 480watt still suffice if i got a 4890?
My current set up includes phenom 2 tri core 720 couple of case fans 4x sata hdd No cd drives.

games i currently/plan on playing if it helps get an idea of what i need.
Warhammer online, DoW2, little bit of crysis, l4d, tf2, empire total war maybe next cod made by infinity ward etc.

3. If not the 4890 what card would you recommend?

cheers :D

Hi,
1. Imo yes.
2. Depends on the rest of your rig spec. Personally I'd get something meaty for the future in mind. I'd say its a bit tight with what you're running atm, also bearing in mind the spec you haven't mentioned.
3. I'd upgrade your psu regardless of whether you buy a new video card or not.
:)

Go for at least 7 - 750 min. You don't always get a true stated amount, but with some makes you do like enermax iirc and perhaps other folk will pop on to this thread and mention a few other makes. The makes Bequiet are also good as are corsair. Once you've got your new PSU you can get any card you like. Just go for a high amount of vram like a 1gb radeon or an 896mb Nvidia if you are going to game at that res. My 512 4870 can struggle a bit even on 1680 x 1050 with games on max settings so even at that res I'd still go for a more powerful version.

ok think ill continue with the monitor purchase so i can still hook up ps3 and suffer on graphics until i get a good psu accompanied by the fastest card i can get now i wont be power limited

I agree with what arc@css has said. At that higher res the amount of video RAM is important, even at 1680x1050 it makes a difference imo. So a 1Gb card or thereabouts would be my choice.

And as to the PSU, then I think it's an essential upgrade too, a new PSU will be much more able to power and also protect your rig - and the BeQuiet! gets my vote. I've just put one in and they are great, very very quiet and with so many cables (all modular of course).:)
