As above really.

I do not count myself as an expert player at all. However, I am able to hold my own against my 12 year old step son and came second in the league when I played against the Xbox on ameatuer level.

I was really looking forward to going on line, but I have lost almost every match I play.

It seems the other team are always faster (especially if I am on the attack), better at tackling and break through my defence with ease almost everytime.

I have read a few comments on the forums and now play as Inter. i try to play against either newly on line players (10 matches or less) or else I choose players in 3B and 3C but seem to loose by 3-0, 4-0 each time.

I really used to enjoy PES6 but now just find it really frustraining.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Its almost impossible for us to find out what your doing wrong, you just have to keep practicing, watch what other players are doing when they beat you, do they have a particular goal scoring technique? are they working the ball around the pitch using advanced moves (lobbed through balls and the like) Its really just getting all the different aspects of the game working fluidly. My advice is read the manual again, i found all sorts of advanced stuff that can be really useful (like making your play run on after playing a pass, great for 1-2's)

Thanks. Quick 2 questions....

1) What the best button to use to tackle an opponent (there seem to be 2 choices)

2) Is it me, but why does it seem if I am running back to get the ball off an attacker he seems to run at almost the same speed as me, but if I have the ball the defenders seem to catch me much faster. (I am using the sprint button).

Thanks

1) A is used to pressure, you'll probably be using this the most.
B is used to slide tackle, only use this if you're either sure you'll get the ball or have plenty of player back behind the ball, because if you miss it can leave you horribly open at the back, and also your likely to get a card if you take the player. X is used to bring a second player other than the one your controlling in ot help pressure the man on the ball. This is very useful against skilful strikers like Henry and for generally applying quick pressure to players. However don't use it too much as it means you'll have 2 players trying to tackle 1, levaing a gap somewhere else.

2) Because its like real life, very few players can run as fast on the ball as off it

I've pretty much given up with PES6 online. I only find about 1 in 5 of the games enjoyable. Everyone goes for Chelsea/Inter/Barca and then sticks the fastest players really high up the pitch and just legs it. The good games I've had were against teams like PSV, Arsenal and Bayern Munich with regular formations.

Is there anyway of filtering out the people who only play to maintain a good record?

Yeh, play the 3A-3B-3C players. Generally you'll find 3C players will pick teams that are unusual which i think makes it more enjoyable. Check peoples records before you enter, i.e. inter/brazil only noobs.

im crap online too, some people are v good, but i dont really have a clue what the advanced buttons are :)
I was using liverpool, but everyone picked inter, barca, brazil and argie.
Although I drubbed braz with lfc once, i was drunk too:)

I've not played PES06 but from the sounds of it, its quite a similar game to DOA4. E.g. there's quite a big online following and its a tough game to get used to. If you dont leanr the basics you'll get owned ;)

Thanks for the help so far, I am SLOWLY improving.

A new question for you...

How do I set up a match to play against a friend on-line? I can get to play against random people easily enough, but can't seem to find a way to invite a friend to join my game. I know his gamer tag, but when I use the xbox dashboard to "invite" him to play, the option is greyed out.

Thanks

Hussman

When setting up the match, there is an option to select whether or not you want to play people from your friends list, make sure you change this to yes.

I am not a pro at pro evo but here are a few quick tip that might help: Never commit a defender or a player in a slide tackle as its a 50/50 chance of getting the ball, only slide when you know the player will run into you and disrupt the play or you are sure he can get the ball.

When you are one on one with a striker back track and try and block the shot or wait for back up, if you run at him there is a good chance he will just skip past you and score. On the PS2 version if you hold Square (i think) it will call a another player to atack the ball and husstle the player (very usefull when your trying to mark a runner) not sure if its the A button on 360 does the same.

If you have a team you like, Stick with them, keep the same formation and get use to the players if you know your team well then you will play better.

And lastly, keep passing and keep shooting, it keeps your teams moral up and helps them play better (well i think it does)

Wow i feel like gamesmaster :p

Hope it helps.

I not played it on the Xbox put I quite good at it on the PS2, by that I mean I kick my mates butts...

I tend to play to through ball pass the the last man and use the striker thats being marked my the last man to run to the ball. When it comes to tackle an opponent, I use the pressure button with the switch player button, as you ind that most of the time the other player passes the ball straight away, so this will switch focus to the man marking the player that the ball is going to and my footballer will get to the ball first.

When it comes to shooting at the goals, I always end up passing the ball to the goals. I'm not a ManU long run then cross and power shot player, I'm an arsenal 50 passes then tap in at an angle (helps being an arsenal fan!)

1-2s are only used by me in the center on the midfield when space is tight and you need extra space to stretch the players before the though ball..

They way to look at the game is that the football simulator so play it a slow pace to start with until you get used to the game... and its gets faster and faster

Get it for the PC, the controls are much more responsive and movement of the players seem smoother!

I have it on 360 and PC and imo the PC version is the better of the two.

Have you tried double tapping (i think) the dpad/stick in the direction you are running? knocking the ball ahead (providing theres none in front of you) should help keep you ahead of the retreating defender.

Hi,

Thanks for all the help.

Mudspider, I will add you to my friends list.

If any one else wants a game (to see how carp I really am) the ID is Meaty Squirrel.

I tend to be online mainly Tuesday evenings as the wife goes out then.

Thanks again for helping out.
