To be honest and without being rude, I struggled to read that.

But can you not go and visit their premises ?

I cba'd on the wall of text.

Maybe you could learn to paragraph, and you could get a job as a columnist in some magazine?

Ok I help out with my brother when needed and have been doing some plastering work for a company called Damar Ceilings Macclesfield. This is my third job which we have completed on time, no hiccups and no complaints and got on well with the foreman running this job.

The Director has asked us to do other stuff which we have politely had to turn down as we do have other commitment jobs which is either ready for us to jump back onto or start.

Now, the problem is my brothers invoice has gone in weeks ago and they're not answering the phone. I have a feeling they have gone bust  and he has already been down that road in 96 and had to re-mortgage his house as he was owed 17 Grand when a subsidiary company from Tysons went under, so we have to be as careful as we can but you will not make any money until you've completed the job or got to the first stage of payment, what else can you do?

This is where you may be able to help. I have had a look on the net for this company and they seem popular and i was tempted to buy a report on the company for a nominal fee and what that would tell me is are these reports bogus or not (sorry i am not that good at searching for information).

Please guys, does anyone know of this company or know if they are still trading, thanks for taking the time. :)

GD... where people selectively lose the ability to read  I didn't have any problems with that.

OP, just go to their registered address and try to talk to someone. You'll at least be able to find out if they're still trading etc. even if you don't immediately get answers to your questions.

A quick Google gives this:
Owl House, Chatham Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire, Sk11 6EE

Am sure hes thought about it, but since there not taking any calls I doubt there's anyone there plus it means driving to Manchester from the Wirral and leaving the job

OP -- if you buy a report from Company house it will be legit. but for free you can see if the company has gone bust or not off t'net.

EDIT - Beaten by 2 people!

by the way what are your terms of payment? unless you have explicitly stated terms of payment on the invoice, they just have to pay it 'within a reasonable time'. At least a month.

Offer to write the invoice with a tax date of 30th December, if they pay you immediately.

This will save them 2.5% without costing you a penny if you're VAT registered.

I was in 'The Rake' yesterday ;)

I apologise for being rude, but he needn't be an expert of the language to use paragraphs.

I don't even have an English GCSE!

Sorry this cracked me up.

You dont even have an english GCSE, but thought it prudent to pick up on his command of the english language? rofl

OP How long has it actually been since the job was completed? Over a month I would suggest popping into a solicitors and paying them to write a recoreded letter asking for payment. Will probably cost approx £50 for the letter, but may yeild results.

Also you will need to find out the current status of the company in question, not quite sure how you would go about that.

As has been said, last activity with Co House was December with the 2009 annual return being filed. After that not much more to be seen! Conceviably they could've gone under since then, or they may just be taking their time, not entirely unusual with small companies!

Are you saying that's not the right address for the company? As that's the address for the only Damar Ceiling on Co House, so are you sure the registered address is the same as the trading address, and if not is they guy "trading as" Damar Ceilings (would prob need to check on a VAT invoice or similar for that)
