Help me overclock my 6600 to 3ghz?

Ok I have an Asus P5W DH Deluxe and my ram is G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400.

I just want to overclock at first to 3ghz, and I have no idea how to do it on this board. Can any kind soul help me? Cooler is a Freezer pro 7 and my cpu is 40c full load.

You should have plenty of options in the BIOS. Have you checked? or does this board requires jumpers settings? am not sure as i dont have it
Changing the FSB to 333 will do the job on stock cooling
 
Theres loads of options in the bios, but I just want to achieve a 3ghz overclock and not sure what to change. do i just change the fsb to 340? or something? my ram is 6400 Pc2 800mhz.
 
Because your overclocking your ram too, choose the Ram option below your cpu frequency and choose DDR800 or which ever is nearest. If its over DDR800 then you might have to slacken your timmings

The 800 setting is not the speed, confusingly its the multiplier, it's 1:1 which is a good place to start. The next DDR1000 is 4:5 so 300FSB becomes 375 for the memory.

But I choose ddr-800 yes? do i need to lock buses or anything?

Depends on the memory specification. DDR800 sets the memory to the same bus speed as the CPU, 1:1.

e.g DDR2-800 is designed to run at 400MHz (on the memory bus, which is not the same as the FSB unless you set at 1:1) or PC2-6400, PC2-5700=356 and so on.

You should always lock the PCI-E & PCI bus' 101, 33.
 
Cool thans for the help mate. I have G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (ddr2-800mhz) so I'll choose it. And also lock busses to 101/33 :)
 
Hi Im gonna try the overclocking today after I flash to the latest Bios. ;)

Only worry I have is my high motherboard temps, 50c.

straight from the bios settings screen.

mem voltage 2.100
cpu vcore voltage 1.525
fsb 1.5
mch 1.6
ich 1.2

Prime gives me an hardware error fault but it will run super P1 in 14s.
