Hi,

Right I'll make this quick as its very boring:

My parents have a Renault Kangoo on a 3 year lease via Renault Selections and the lease period is up in just over 3 months and they need a replacement car.

Due to financial constraints they are looking at Motability vehicles only but have some things they would like in a new car.

-Easily Accessible - Kangoo has sliding rear doors and this is fantastic for my dad (25 year wheelchair user)

-Fuel Efficient - The Kangoo they are currently driving (1.6 Auto) drinks fuel and returns 22mpg in town and about 32mpg on a long motorway run.

-Reliable - The Kangoo they have has suffered a wide range of electrical problems including: Radio failure, multiple battery failure, engine cut out, failed dashboard....the list goes on.

-Auto or Semi-Auto Transmission - The new car must have this as my dad has been restricted to an auto only license due to his condition.

Currently they are looking at the Citroen Nemo which is similar to the Kangoo but a little smaller. However it suffers from the problem of engine size: 1.4 Diesel, 8v with a whopping 70bhp. I'm trying to steer them away from this option as the performance is going to be soul destroying.

Anyone got any good suggestions of other cars to look at?

Thanks :)

Kangoo 1.5 DCI(assuming they make it)

Renault admit the 1.6 engine is crap, but the 1.5DCI is much better, parents have got one in their megane sport tourer and the MPG never drops below 50, goes up to around 70 on a run aswell

For ease of access yes :)

My dad is highly independent and prefers as little help as possible. With the sliding door he can load his wheelchair in approx. 15 secs :D

Having a normal outward opening door makes this a lot slower :(
