Good evening folks.

I need a bit of help. It's my lovely girlfriends 21st birthday on the 18th June this year. we've been together just over three and a half years and have never been on holiday, as she's a broke student and I've always been strapped for cash.

Anyway, I've booked some time off work, and I'd like to take her away, only for a short weekend, over her birthday. We'd both rather stay in the UK and have talked about Cornwall as a possible suggestion, or Scotland. Somewhere nice and picturesque anyway

Anyway, long story short, I have a budget of 2-300 pounds for this, maybe more if needed for travel expenses etc. Can anyone help me to go about find a place/good deal/places to go/booking etc?

I'll be honest, never done this before and don't even know where to begin :(

Thanks in advance,

Sean :)

Hmm, for a budget like that it might be worth looking at a youth hostel :)

EDIT: Ow sorry didn't see it was just for a Weekend :o, how a about a travel lodge :p ?

Checkout the eurostar website. I managed to get a good deal when I took my gf to Paris for her 21st. Trains and hotel for us both was around £200 for a long weekend.

-edit- sorry just seen you don't wanna leave the UK. but I think thats mad :o Paris is amazing and we had the best weekend ever :D

nip into thomas cook/other holiday highstreet places, just look in there window. They always have like, 7 nights half board in malaga for £170 pp or thereabouts, so whittle them down to a small 3 nighter or something. You might need a bit more for foodstuffs though. Other choice imo would be a nice b&b in Devon/Cornwall. Lovely beaches when its good weather, and plenty of stuff to do.

Don't mind leaving the UK, but think we would probably get the most from our limited budget staying inland.

Sleeping in a room with people you don't know doesn't sound fun to me  I guess its ok if your single and you are staying with hot girls :D

I'll take her away for her 21st.................. :p

200/300 each or between you?

where you going from?

cornwalls always packed that time of year tbh, we've got loads of emmits around but its still nice to kick back and relax on the beach for a bit etc

theres some cheap hotels in london (regents palace and the close by backpackers, sub £50 a night for the latter) thats always a winner.

Driving or train - whichever is cheapest/quickest.

well dunno about cheapest or quickest but better off having a car in cornwall if you do come down.

you got a tent?

Yeah I have a tent, although I don't mind camping, on this occassion I'd prefer maybe a b&b or hotel. I don't want to stay in a crap hole though.

oh come on! camping is so romantic!

some of my best memorys of my ex are from camping on the beach in cornwall and watching the sun set.

ohhh god, you've got my all bleary eyed now :p

I'll run the idea past her. We've been camping locally for the odd night, and had a great time. I think the idea of this trip was to get a roof for the night too. I'll see what she says.

Are there good, quiet places to camp then?

define quiet?

Well, if I camp, i'd like some privacy, not stuck on a campsite 10ft from another tent on each side.

well

I normaly camp on the beach rather than a site, but then its been a while since I did that and I think they are harder on checking for people camping (sadly)

unless anyone here has camped in cornwall recently I can't help with that angle, but I'd say it should be quiet enough.
phone up the sites before you book and ask how busy they are.

dude, you want help with it, my MSN is in trust, Yahoos not on most of the time and ICQ is off if I can help it
