I shake her and check all the connections and components are seated snugly but alas she will not stir? Have I missed something that will bring her back to me? Please offer any advice on resurrection ...

NF7-s V2 - Bios: D27 Merlin
Tbird 1700 @ 2.35 @ 1.7v
2 x 512 Ozc 3200 @ 205 fsb @ 2.7 (dimm1 & 3)
128meg 6800nu agp
Samsung Sata 200gig HD
(removed) soundcard

Last night I took out the Ocz and changed the Dimms that they were in due to the fact my Ocz DDR booster arrived. It would not fit in with the current placement so I changed the Ozc from Dimms 1 & 3 to Dimms 2 & 3 and installed the Booster.

Power on and I get the NF7's beep code to say that the DDR is not seated correctly. Checked it all again and still no go, just a long beeeep. Removed 1 stick of 512 in Dimm 2 and no luck. Changed the placement to Dimm1 and Booster in Dimm3 with no result. Finaly remover the Booster and power on to no beep but no post!

Cleared Cmos and nothing. Board powers on and all fans plus lights come on, gpu fans are on yet no signal from card to monitor. HDD feels like it is working.

What's wrong? is the board dead? perhaps the agp port is dead?
I dont have another card to test the agp out but I am thinking the board is RIP :(

Your help and advice is most welcome in this time of need.

This might not be related, but when I built my first rig last week, I forgot to connect the 4-pin power cable from the PSU to the Mobo. With the 24 pin in by itself, fans would spin, as would the HDD, but no beeps and no POST. This was solved by plugging it in. I don't know if this helps, but they were the symptoms I had.

Did you read here...

Abit NF7 v.2 3.4V
Y Use in DIMM Slot 3; results in single channel configuration
Abit NF7S v.2 3.4V
Y Use DIMM slot

I reckon you may do well over here...(The Official OCZ Support Forum)

I will say this though...All Nforce2 boards have a history of not recovering well after messing in the BIOS.

If you have corrupted the BIOS there are a few options like here, but if youv'e damaged anything else it will prolly mean new board :(

Thank you Split,

I am going to have a look at the Bios replacement and have posted on a few other forums that you recommended. Guess if all this fails it will be over the fence to the socket 939 field in the next week :)

If the BIOS chip is corrupted, would you still be getting POST beeps? All the boards I've come across that have suffered a bad flash never beep...

Be sure this is the problem before you try for a chip replacement... Take out the CMOS battery and leave the board awhile to be sure the data is cleared.

I've come across a number of boards that behave like this when physical changes are made. It could just that the BIOS implimentation is buggy in some way. Try using a single stick of other RAM to see if it forces the BIOS to react.

Theres also this weird phenomenon with the NF7 series where it fails to boot due electromagnetic interference from a 'noisy' or failing fan motor... Try switching your fans, too.

As a resolution to this thread I thought that you would like to know that it turns out my 6800 Leadtek is dead and the cause of the problem.

Remembering I had an old 64meg Pci Nvidia card, I plugged it in today and hey presto up comes the display. Just for good measure the DDR Booster works flawlessly upon testing again also.

Unfortunately it also transpires that the 6800 is just 10 days past 1ysr Warrenty also :(

that's life I guess
