help! My daughter just deleted 4 gigs of photos

Ok, i think my 3 year old has just managed to delete a folder with 4 gigs of jpegs in. And then she must have pressed Enter to 'permanently' delete them. Is there anything i can do? I've tried one or two recovery programs with no success. Anyone? Please? This is 3 years of family pictures and whilst i do have a backup, the backup hasn't been updated for quite a long time :(
 
what programs have you tried? Tuneup Utilities was quite good and file recovery if my memory serves me correctly. havent used it in a while.
 
ok, panic averted. It appears that rather than deleting them, she simply moved them to another folder, which is why they were not showing up on any of the undelete programs i suppose. Phew! Thanks any way for looking
 
The files will still be there. Windows has changed a switch to remove it from file view.

Preferably you want a recovery utility you can run from a USB device or alike, as if you install a utility it will over write the deleted photos.

Many years ago I used Getdataback, but it's a lot of money to pay for something you might only use once. And unfortunate the trial desn’t allow you to recover, just shows you what you could recover if you paid for the full version.

Edit: Bah. Too slow checking for spelling mistakes before posted.

I had that once with my son so now I backup to an external every week .....

I bet that you will make a more recent backup now won't you :D
