Hi all

I have a Vista 32bit based PC as follows:
Abit iX38 Quad GT mobo
3bg OCZ RAM
E6750 CPU
XFX HD4890 900M GPU (newly installed)
Corsair HX750W PSU (newly installed)

Until recently I could put the PC in sleep mode successfully and it would shut down normally too.

I upgraded the the PSU to the 750w Corsair and the GPU as above (was a GeForce 8500GT before) and ever since, the PC just won't sleep of shut down.

Just after it seems to have finished powering off it beeps and starts up again

The only way I can turn it off is to hit the power switch on the back of the PSU, which is clearly nuts !

I have checked all of my BIOS settings and have all the "wake on" options disasbled ... and it still keeps restarting.

Any ideas about what has gone wrong here?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

mine seems to do that but ive put it down to windows being funkey

and wots up with the power button on the front ? is that not turing it off ?

Thanks all. Have now tried:

- disconnecting all USB devices; still restarts
- changing BIOS seeting to not wake on anything; still restarts
- replacing the CMOS battery; still restarts
- resetting BIOS to factory defaults; still restarts
- pressing the off button (!); it still restarts
- swapped GPUs (which did mess up my windows installation and I had to re-activate FFS ) ... but it still restarts
- turning off the monitor (Dvi connection) to see iof that makes a difference ( it doesn't) :(
- pressing the off button for longer, directly after restart (!!!!); and it STILL restarts

It would be funny if it wasn't pi$$ing me off so much

I can only think that it must be the PSU ... but why would it be doing this?

Any more ideas folks?

Chris

Check your case cables are connected correctly to the mobo (positive and negative strands)

Also rather than use the back of PC switch can you not hold the power button down on the front of case? Holding it for a few secs will cut the connection.

EDIT: Just saw your last post so ignore the pressing and holding power button bit above. :D
