My sound setup:
Onkyo sr-606
B&W 2x685 fronts, 2x686 rears and 1 HTM62 front. Gale SW.
Want to get the best out of my classical music cd collection in a convenient way.
I'd like to rip them losslesly to my pc upstairs and play them through my hifi downstairs.
I haven't yet bought a blu-ray player and I'm thinking about a PS3.

That link paints a somewhat confused story, I gave up reading after a short while, full of rubbish !!.... Suggesting DIY removal of passive crossovers and making some semi active system sounds more like a bodge to me !
Bi amping IS leaving the passive crossover in place, just driving the HF and LF section of the crossover with two amps.

If you want to do the job properly then get real active speakers and have the crossovers in the amps....otherwise leave well alone I would advise.

It's not rubbish, I suggest you at least attempt to read and understand the whole thing, Rod Elliot knows his stuff.

The biggest advantage of bi-amping is doing away with the passive crossover!

The Most Common Question About Biamping The most common question I get is ...
"Do I need to disconnect the passive crossover in my speakers?"
The answer is ... Yes, otherwise you are not really biamping at all.

Then to remove the passive you need to replace it with something else,,,, an active one!!.... then it's not simple bi-amping, it's an active speaker which is a whole new ball game..... removing half is a bodge and you are effectively designing a new crossover network, beyond most, and without suitable measurement tools would be difficult. You perhaps could close as a start with something like LEAP software.
Not something to go recommend on a causal forum like this, hard core DIY forum if you like maybe.....
That said full active rocks.... been using it for years :)
