I need some help as things have moved on some, and I am trying to work out the best (cheapest and best performance) options.

Basically I have a Abit IP35 board, which doesn't do SLi and one 8800GT. Now I am looking at buying a 3007wfp HC. Does this mean I will need another 8800GT to run anything near good in terms of gaming? Will one of the cards be good enough to run the normal desktop environment (youtube, aero, etc?)

Now what board is the best to buy second hand that will run DDR2 and my Q6600 and 2 X 8800GT in SLi?

Yes! . . . easily :)

IMHO you are moving in the wrong direction . . . spending good money on a dated board and another dated graphics card?

Did you consider just selling your original 8800GT and buying a newer GPU?

Also how come your splurging on a DELL 3007wfp HC when for the same money you could buy a state-of-the-art 40" High-Def LCD/Plasma TV that can link to your PC via HDMI

the man has a point here :) i wouldnt recommend a new board and another 8800gt tbh. Instead either sell the 8800gt to fund a new card, or keep the 8800 for pysx and get hold of a 260 while they are still knocking about :)

Thanks, I like to sit at my desk and buying a separate LCD/Plasma would mean I have to face the corner for PC and have the TV straight on to watch from the couch behind. So I thought I would get one screen to do both, hence 30" monitor :)
