Help needed Quick re: Intels 64bit floppy raid pre-install method

Guys I am in need of some quick help,

I am just about to do a fresh install of Vista 64bit Ultimate and decided to go to Intels website to see if there were any new updated drivers for 64-bit Floppy Configuration Utility for Intel® Matrix Storage Manager.

There are and they are 8.2.0.1001, so I downloaded them but there is no exe file to create the floppy disc. I know there used to be on older versions.

Do I just copy the files to a floppy disc or what.

Also on the website it states Vista doesnt use the F6 method is this saying that Vista does not need these drivers pre-installed or is it saying that it doesnt use the XP F6 method.

I did a fresh install of Vista64 at the weekend, to implement RAID 0. I set up RAID through my motherboard BIOS and then in the RAID controller. Vista64 was then installed without loading RAID drivers prior to the installation. The Intel Matrix RAID drivers were installed once I go into Windows for the first time (using the iata82 file listed under the "4" series drivers.
 
Thanks for the the quick response UT but I have always pre-installed with Intels floppy config drivers. I then once windows is installed like you install the Matrix storage manager (in this case iata82)

I am just a little confused as to why Intel provide pre-install drivers for Vista when in fact everything runs fine by the sound of things without them being pre-installed (in this case f6flpy64.zip)

Vista setup can load drivers from any removable media, so you could copy the drivers to a floppy disk, a USB drive or burn them to CD. When you come to choosing where to install Windows there's a Load Driver option, just click that and point to where you have the drivers.

I understand how its done as I've done it a number of times its just the fact there is no executable file when you download the newest drivers to create a floppy.

It would appear now that you dont even need to pre-install the raid drivers with Vista, but why would intel have them to download

Because the same drivers could equally be used with a USB drive, so creating a floppy image extractor just limits how useful this particular download will be.

Why wouldn't they? Storage controller drivers are pretty important and some people obviously appreciate being able to install the latest ones right from the get go. Also if you vLite your Vista install you probably want to remove all the bundled drivers, in which case having these raid drivers available to download on their own is pretty handy.

So in summary are we saying that I dont need to pre-install these drivers with Vista but when Windows is fully installed just install the matrix storage manager:)
