Help On A Job

I have been contacted by a local theatre and have been asked to do a set of photos of 'some things around the theatre' (sorry for the lack of detail, that is all I know so far). They are looking for about 10 photos to chose from and ideally will use 2 in an advertisement. The reason they have contacted me is they are looking for a low cost photographer and a friend at school who works for them contacted me about it.

I would like to take on the job but I have no experience in indoor photography. However, I do feel that I am capable of the job being asked but I also realise that as I have had no experience I will be learning as I go.

Therefore I would like some opinions if possible on the following please

1) Due to having no experience in commercial indoor photography I am planning on saying to the theatre that I will do the job but if they don't like the images they will not need to pay me a penny. However if they do like the images the cost will be £xx. Is that fair?

2) If the theatre does take me on, also considering that they want a low cost photographer, would £40ish for a set of 10 or so images be way too high, too low or about right? I literally have no clue when it comes to pricing.

3) When selling the images to the theatre what is the 'norm' for licensing the images? Should I be selling full copyright of the images, one time use or unlimited use for advertisements etc.

I'd say perhaps £150? You just gotta break it down logically.

30min/photo for scouting, metering, testing and taking the final actuations.
30min/photo for final touches inside of lightroom etc.

Works out at roughly £15 an hour given that your not there for more than 300mins

(Even that seems a smidge cheap tbf)

Problem is we need some commerials to come out and say you need X Y and Z. However self promoting isn't allowed on these forums.

Perhaps talkphotography forums can answer these questions as its 100% photo nuts

I see your logic though. I think I will go over and ask on TP too though. Thanks for the input so far all. I will get in touch with the manager and see what he/she specifically wants .
