I would like to go there this Summer on my Bike, so I think would be a good idea to start planning my trip.
I would like to spend around 5 days in Scotland plus 1 days each way sleeping somewhere between London and Inverness, so a 7 days trip starting and ending in London.

Anyone been there before?
Any tips where to stay, to eat and places to visit?
Anything I should take an extra care or avoid?

Which direction did you do last year? I don't mind doing either.

No way I'm camping, if I was at least 15 years young, maybe :)
I would like to stay in nice but affordable places, nothing fancy, just a good bed to rest.

Is that bad that an insect repellent doesn't work and I need a midge hat? than I'm ****** usually I'm the first one to get bitten.

I actually wouldn't mind camping, but my friend would laugh if I even ask him if he wants.
so yeah... not an option there.... well I can get rid of him :D

Things have changed completely..
one friend is 100% sure that he cannot go and the other one doesn't know, so I'm not gonna rely on him.
I'm thinking about going by myself and wild camping... I have holidays from 1st to 18th of August, so if I go I will be going between this days.
Thinking about buying some kriega bags, a tent, sleeping bag and pretend that I'm still on my 20s :)

Hey, my holiday is last week july forst week augus.

I'm wanting to do the nc500.

Ive got some kriega bags just need to dort the tet an bag lol :p

Trying to decide weather to take the top box to put stuff in or just strap aoft bags down

Like I said, my holidays are from 1st to 18th, I don't mind the dates... you are more than welcome to join me.

Actually would be nice to go with more people, so if anyone else is going, I could join you, if you don't mind.

Tents and extras are cheap from sportsdirect, I think for less than £50 you can get tent, sleeping bag and/or air mattress

I still need to get the bags, checking some used ones on the auction site or maybe will get new ones.

The weather... well... nobody knows :) but from August should be ok.

I got back a couple of weeks ago from a total of 1,800 miles up to Scotland, round and back :D

If you're still after bags and want to do it cheaper than a Kriega setup, have you checked out ROK straps? They'd work nicely with a couple of cheap roll bags.

Oh and make sure you get a midge head net and that your tent is lined with fine mesh so they don't get in at night.

Thanks will have a look on that straps.

Also if you want Kreiga but want to save a few quid check out the 44Teeth website they have a discount code for 10% off with one of their suppliers.

Thanks for that :)

Had to delay my holidays, but I can still probably go end of this month...
Already got the Kriegas, ordered midge net, need to get a tent and sleeping bag... will try to camp (I wanna see that), but I will need 1 or 2 nights at a hotel at some point :)
Friends that were going are not going anymore, hate to rely on other people... so I guess I'm going by myself :)

If you guys know a good place to sleep and take a shower would be nice, nothing fancy.. Also good places to camp and places I have to visit.

Kreeeee wanna come? :D

I will be on my way tomorrow morning.
Will spend the night around Glasgow and then on my way to NC500.
Only booked a place to stay around Glasgow, as it will be my longest day around 500 miles, after that will just go with the flow :)
I will be doing it anticlockwise.

Any last minute advice?
What is a must see?
Which good campsites?

I changed my mind.. I'm going clockwise... the weather will be better going like that. I'm in Inverness already.. will start the nc500 tomorrow
