What is the best way to do that reset cmos while new card fitted?

No take the card out. Then take the battery off the motherboard. Wait 5 mins. Then replace. Then replace card. Then boot and see what happens.

Can fix a multitude of problems - your settings in your bios will need re-doing of course and any overclocks applying again

I tried this but no joy when i restart with no power connected to card it will beep for boot but when i add power to card it will not boot at all.

a) Which RX580 you bought? How many 6+2 you have connected to the card?
b) What is your PSU model?

power color Radeon rx 580 red dragon v2 8192 and just the one 6+2 power connector

ocz 700 watt psu

Mate you MUST connect both the 8 pin connectors to the GPU. It wont work otherwise.

Is the PSU this one? If so, go get the extensions for the other 8pin connector. (I believe the red ones on the pic/video bellow).

No, not if the BIOS doesn't know it's a graphics card.

Forgive me but I guess I’m learning here too - how wouldn’t it know? Surely the bios comes designed even from its earliest iteration to know when a card is installed regardless of what card it is?

I repeat I’m learning - not arguing

Sure, it might know a card is installed, but, it might not be able to communicate with it. The GPU is talking a newer language and the older motherboard BIOS does not understand.
